07 Apr Living in the Last Days
There are several signs mentioned in the Bible to let us know what to look for to indicate the end times. These signs are mentioned through out the Bible, not just in The Book of Revelation. The question for most is: are we really living in the last days? The answer is that we are living in the beginning of the last days, or some would call it pre-tribulation. We will list 7 reasons why we believe this.
1. Statue in King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
In Chapter 2 of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about a statue with a head of gold, chest & arms of silver, belly & thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and toes of clay and iron. Then a rock crushes the statue by striking the feet first. Daniel interpreted this dream as what it is to come for each kingdom ruling over Israel. The first kingdom is Babylon, the 2nd kingdom is Medo Persia, the 3rd kingdom is the Greek Empire, 4th kingdom is the Roman Empire, and the 5th kingdom is divided kingdoms. The rock is the coming of Jesus Christ. Now we’re living in the time of the divided kingdoms.
2. Wars, Earthquakes, and Famines
Jesus told his disciples how they can tell we are in the beginning of the last days. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. – Mark 13:8. There is a big increase in wars, famines, and earthquakes.
3. Overflowing of the Holy Spirit
In the end times, Holy Spirit will manifest in all of mankind. “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. – Joel 2:28-29. There is an increase in people who are having visions of Heaven, Hell, and prophetic dreams, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
4. Gospel Being Preached Around the World
Jesus told his disciples, And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come. – Matthew 24:14. There are many people who are called to be either a teacher, prophet, apostle, or evangelists throughout the world. Christianity is the leading religion in the world. Today there are 2.1 billion people who are Christians. However there are still countries that need the gospel to be preached including North Korea.
5. Lack of Humanity & Self Control
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! – 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Through social media and the news you can see what God means by this. People are now being entertained by violence, reality shows, social media, and pornography. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, – Matthew 24:12. Today we live in society in which the divorce rate is up to 50%, and crime is on the rise. Due to sin increasing rapidly, there is increase of different odd perversions coming up such as transgenderism, homosexuality, bisexuality, pedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality, etc. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
6. Increase of False Prophets & Occultism
Jesus described to his disciples how there will be an increase of false prophets. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. – Matthew 24:10. False prophets are men or women who practice occultism to perform wonders. The source of their power is from demons. These people are called different names depending in the country they live in. For example in India, people who false prophets are called gurus or yogis. However in Africa, false prophets are called sangomas or native doctors. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. – Mark 13:22. So far there have been false prophets exposed in Nigeria for using occultism to perform miracles in Christian churches. More people are turning their faith towards mediums, psychics, tarot readers, and witches. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. – 1 Timothy 4:1.
7. Technology Described in the End Times
There are several technology described in the end times through out the Bible in which exists today.
The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. – Revelation 9:7-10.
This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. – Zechariah 14:12
A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. – Revelation 9:18
TV & Internet Technology
For three and a half days the people of every nation, tribe, language, and race will stare at the bodies of these two witnesses and refuse to let them be buried. – Revelation 11:9
But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase. – Daniel 12:4
With that, let’s always be to ready to stand before the Lord because he comes unexpectedly. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. – Matthew 24:44.
