27 Dec New Year Resolution Ideas for Christians
The new year is fast approaching. As Christians, we need to always evaluate our lives and what can we do to be a step closer in being like Christ. Here are a list of new year’s resolution ideas that can get us to stay on the track for the next year.
May it be increasing or organizing times to pray, we should always improve our pray life. The Bible states that we should pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). If you never pray in the spirit or speak in tongues, start doing it. If you want to find a good way to start, ask the Holy Spirit to help you. If you never interceded for anyone before, start doing it. If you never engaged in spiritual warfare, start engaging. If you never prayed more than 5 minutes, increase it to 10 minutes. Prayer is one of our biggest weapon against the kingdom of darkness.
2. Praise and Worship
God loves it when we praise and worship him. It is one of the top things we can do as Christians to express our love for Jesus Christ. If you only praise and worship God on Sundays at church, start doing it at home or at work. If you only worship and praise 30 minutes per day, try increasing to one hour per day.
3. Forgive and Ask for Forgiveness
If you have a grudge with someone, now it will be the time to let it go. The Bible makes it clear that we should forgive so God can forgive us as well (Matthew 6:14). If you have knowingly offended others but refuse to say sorry, now it is the time to reconciled with them. Jesus Christ made it clear that we should settle any strife we have with others before giving an offering to God at the altar (Matthew 5:22-26).
If you have never donate anything to any charity and nonprofit organization, start doing it. The Bible states it’s more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). God loves when you give money to orphans, helpless widows, and to the poor (Proverbs 19:17, Proverbs 14:31, Exodus 22:22, 1 Timothy 5:3). When you are doing this, you are showing that you love your neighbor as yourself, one of the most important commandment (Mark 12:31, Leviticus 19:18).
If you have never fast, you should start. Fasting is a way to humble yourself before God. Many people in the Bible fasted, both in the old and new testament. It is not only reserved for only Jewish and Muslim people. You can always start small. Start with 6 hour fast and work your way up to 24 hour fast.
6. Fix Foundation Issues
Most of us has a spotty family background may it be alcoholism, witchcraft, poverty etc. These issues has to do with the bad foundations our ancestors laid before us. If your ancestors were not Christians and your family did not resolve the issue before you were born, you will still have to deal with the ramifications (Exodus 20:5). The only way to break these issues are through prayer and fasting.
If you are struggling with an ongoing issue such as never can’t be stable in a job or relationship, it is time to seek deliverance. Seek deliverance ministry that you are certain that operates through the Holy Spirit. Beware of deliverance ministries that does not teach the word of God. These ministries are using a demonic illusion and can not deliver people from demonic bondage.
