03 Jan Parallels between Moses and Jesus
1. Both were in Danger as Babies
During the time of Moses, Pharaoh ordered all first born boys to be sacrificed to a marine spirit demon called Hapi. Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.” Exodus 1:22 During the time of Jesus, Herrod ordered to have boys under 2 years to be killed. When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Matthew 2:16
2. Both Fasted
Both Moses and Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in that hidden place. Jesus was in the wilderness. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Matthew 4:2 Moses was in the mountain while fasting. Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant–the Ten Commandments. Exodus 34:28
3. Both Performed Signs and Wonders
Moses parted the Red Sea in two and turn the water into blood with his staff. He also made the staff turn into a serpent. Jesus raise the dead, made the blind to see, walked on water, multiple food, and much more miracles.
4. Both Freed Their People
Moses freed the Hebrews out of Egypt by walking through water. Jesus freed people by being crucified. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits– to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water 1 Peter 3:19-20
5. Both Delivered God’s Laws
Moses went up to the mountains to bring the stone tablet of the 10 commandments. Jesus started his ministry and told his followers all additional laws to follow along with the 10 commandments.
6. Both Had A Transfiguration
After Moses came back from the mountain after talking to the Lord for 40 days and 40 nights while fasting, his appearance changed. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. Exodus 34:29 After Jesus and his disciples went up to the mountain, his appearance changed. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Matthew 17:2
7. Both Appeared After Their Deaths
Thousands of years after his death, Moses appeared on mountain along with Elijah after Jesus transfigured on the mountain. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Matthew 17:3 Three days later, after Jesus was crucified, he appeared several times to his disciples. First he appeared to Mary Magdalene in the tomb. At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. John 20:14.
