Lessons We Can Learn from Adam & Eve

In Genesis, the story of Adam and Eve is the most popular story due to the many lessons we can learn from it. There are deep life lessons and truth about who we are in this story. We’re going to list the top 7 lessons we can learn from Adam and Eve.

1. Put Your Trust Only in God

Eve decided to trust a strange talking snake before she put her trust in God. Some people would rather put our trust in people, things, and beliefs than to trust in God. God knows what is best for us.

2. Take Responsibility For Your Actions

Adam and Even didn’t take responsibility for their actions. Instead of admitting that he was wrong, Adam blamed Eve. The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” Genesis 3:12. Instead of admitting she was wrong, Eve blamed the serpent. The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” – Genesis 3:13.

3. Strategies of The Enemies

As soon as Adam and Eve was away from God’s presence, Satan entered the serpent to attack the mind of Eve by manipulating her. However Eve didn’t resist the devil and fell for the trap. Most of us are like this. As soon as we’re not going to church or reading the Bible, Satan and his demons try to attack our minds by distracting us with numerous stuff that is not of  God. The enemies will eventually convince us that sports, entertainment, and other things are more important than God. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 11:3

4. Patience is A Virtue

Instead of waiting for God to teach them at his pace, Adam and Eve wanted the same wisdom of God without maturity. The tree of knowledge was in the middle of the garden because God intended Adam and Eve to eat it when they were mature enough to eat it. This is why patience is a virtue. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you. – 2 Peter 3:9. You have to be patient to receive God’s blessings.

5. Your Actions Have Big Consequences

Due to Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God, mankind lost their dominion on Earth and is born of sin. The judgement for sin is a reserve spot in Hell even if you were a saint or sinner. Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned– Romans 5:12. This is why Jesus Christ had to die on the cross so we may live through him and not have to be in Hell when we die. However our actions have big consequences. If we continue to live a life not like Jesus and like how we want to live, we might end up in Hell with the demons.

6. You Can Only Choose One

The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil represent the two lifestyles. Two lifestyles are living righteous and in sin. Since once Adam and Ever ate the tree of knowledge they started sinning, and couldn’t eat the tree of life anymore. This relates to people who wants to live a double life. You can’t go to the night club or bar on Saturday, then go to church on Sunday. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. – James 1:8

7. Forgiveness

After Adam and Eve sinned, God forgave them. He made them clothes and blessed them with many children including Seth. Eve forgave Adam for blaming her. This is one lesson we should grasp. Forgiveness is one thing we should have in our hearts because it’s one thing that frees us from resentment towards each other. You can’t truly love anybody if you can’t forgive.
